Because Asthma is a disease ‘wide spread ‘very
costly ‘ affect
the two sexes of all ages especially the young adults ‘a disease
underdiagnosed and undertreated in in our countries and because
the follow-up of patients achieve complete control as we know
; we wanted through a questionnaire to evaluate the degree of athma’s
control in our patients in order to ameliorate their state according
to our results ( our principle objective )
- Materials : adult asthma patients (department of
internal medicine, external clinics at ALassad university
hospital, in Lattakia from 1/10/2005 till 1/10/2006.
- Peak flow meters
- Sprays of asthma
Posters for education
- methodes : prospective study
Analysis of 120 patients questionnaires (included:
name, age, sex, profession, characteristics of asthma disease
onset - family history classification and treatment - periodic
follow up for three months.
Determination of the degree of control in the
patients (followed up – non followed up)
At the end of the study
Control: (25 followed pts) = (39 % were completely controlled)
x2:36.07 – pv
= 0.078
61 % of pts were partially controlled
Severity:
beginning 42 (sev) 17( mod) 5
(mild)
end 17
( sev) 28 ( mod) 14 ( mild) 5(interm)
8 pts were controlled (among the non followed up) = 14%
Only 4 followed pts with poor control (6%) needed hospitalization
during the study; there was no mortality enrolled in our study.
Amelioration of PEF (among the followed pts) in 73% of pts.
